TL;DR - here are the instrumental versions of the songs from Accidents Do Not Happen, They Are Caused, released to celebrate that mini-album’s 10th anniversary.

The longer version is made up of two stories:

A) A few years ago, a friend who worked at an advert agency let me poke around in the massive database of instrumental versions that they had access to for their work. It had all sorts in, so I sneakily downloaded some to listen to/use as background music when I got married. It was fun to hear songs I know and love without vocals, in a lot of cases it made me hear the performances in a new (audio) light.

2) When we handed in our finished albums to Xtra Mile Recordings we also sent them instrumental versions in case, you know, some big film director/medium sized advert agency/tiny computer game dev heard our stuff and thought "WOW I simply must use the music, but definitely NOT the lyrics, of that song to soundtrack our epic space battle scene/toothpaste advert/Ridge Racer clone mobile game". So far, none of those have happened, but we hold out hope.

And so D) I've always thought it would be fun if bands released the instrumental versions they had stashed away. Approaching the 10th anniversary of this first mini-album of songs re-imagined from their acoustic beginnings seemed a good time to offer up the first of our creations.

NB; for some reason we didn't make a properly mixed instrumental version of Disaster Plan, but have got this rough monitor mix. If the slight dip in quality upsets you, please write to your local MP.
